After two years of playing professional volleyball for Unicaja Almeria in Spain, Nick Amado returns to his alma mater as a volunteer assistant coach in the fall of 2021.
Prior to his professional career, Amado, who was a team captain at the Beach, helped lead Long Beach State to a pair of NCAA National Championships in 2018 and 2019. A two-time AVCA Second Team All-American, Amado finished his LBSU career with 212 total blocks for an average of 1.07 blocks per set. Amado, who was named to the Big West All-First Team on two separate occasions, led the Beach in blocking in his final two years in Black and Gold, and was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team in 2019. His career hitting percentage of .497 is good for second in the Long Beach State career record book.
Amado also saw action at Orange Coast College where he earned First Team All-Pacific Coast Conference honors as a sophomore. He led the Pirates to the league title and an appearance in the state semifinals while averaging 3.44 kills per set and 1.44 blocks per set to go along with a .457 attack percentage.
Additionally, Amado has continued to build his coaching resume at the club level working with Pinnacle Athletic Club. He has coached a number of junior’s teams and has led his squads to several gold, silver, and bronze medals all in the open division.
